Administrative Law
Federal, provincial and municipal laws affect almost all business. Whether you represent a major public company or own your business you face a vast number of complex and sometimes conflicting regulations and laws. These include licensing requirements, patent registration and trade marks, zoning, consumer packaging and international trade. The growing complexity of administrative law has increased the need for specialized legal knowledge in most business transactions. Elkind & Lipton advises and represents clients in this complex legal field.
We have been engaged as senior counsel on numerous regulatory matters on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations, in which capacity we have advised on and drafted regulations and legislation relating to consumer and public law. We have dealt extensively with numerous other government Ministries on behalf of our clients in respect to various regulatory matters.
Since 1991, we have been retained by the Public Accountants Council of Ontario, in which capacity we have acted on their behalf as prosecutor in quasi-criminal matters and on matters relating to professional responsibility, and have represented the Council before administrative tribunals and all levels of court in administrative and constitutional litigation.
As well, we act as counsel for the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), a self-governing body that regulates over 3000 travel agents and travel wholesalers. We have acted on behalf of TICO in matters relating to the protection of consumer funds.
We advocate on behalf of clients before administrative tribunals and all levels of court with respect to matters dealing with their conduct and fitness for government registration.
